What a gorgeous day for a boat ride on the St. Croix! The temperature was perfect -somewhere in the high 70’s. The south wind was a bit strong but certainly did not spoil a thing for us.
Pam & Wayne are visiting us from California where the temperatures last week were in the 107 – 108 range and a severe drought is ravaging the countryside and their orange grove. Today’s weather couldn’t have been better to show off Minnesota’s best side.
We headed north to take a look at the progress on the Stillwater Bridge Project. Our friends were amazed by the beauty of the river valley. The fall colors have not started yet but the differing shades of green are unbelievable. Weekdays on the river are basically pretty quiet traffic wise. Today was no different. We stopped in Hudson for a quick burger, fries and a beer at Dick’s.
“Fiddle Fartin’ Around” (our pontoon) brought us home again safe and sound after our voyage. We only had one boatload of fishermen holler at us about never having seen that boat out on the water before in the last five years– only tied to the dock. Well that’s not true! But then what do they know?
